The Digital Citizenship program will be launched between July and September next year, so identification, ID cards and the state will move to mobile phones, said the minister who heads the Prime Minister's Cabinet Office on Thursday in Budapest.

Antal Rogán, the II. He announced at a national regulatory conference that with this step they are following the trend that people are now approaching world affairs through their mobile phones.

He pointed out that from the user's point of view, it will be good to be a digital citizen, because then the person concerned can verify his identity at any time with his phone. In addition, you can arrange your payments to the state with the push of a button, through a central mobile application.

Antal Rogán said that he expects that next year there will be less than 1 million, but in 2025 there will be 3-5 million users of the program.

The basic principle of the development is that the citizen is ultimately the owner of all data related to the state, so the citizen decides whether his data can be used.

He also mentioned that there will be two types of administration in the new system: one is based on life events, and the other is e-Paper. The latter will be completely renewed compared to the current system.

Regarding life event-based administration, he said that the most common cases in it are related to birth and car registration, which is why these two are planned to be made available as early as 2025. The essence of the development is that administration can be started with the push of a button, and then the necessary documents are obtained by the state.

The legal regulations related to digital citizenship will be submitted to the National Assembly in November, said Antal Rogán, who would like the legislation to be adopted by mid-December and could enter into force next year.

He said that the Digital Citizen mobile application will be published in 2024, which will ensure central access to the state. In the first step, everyone who is on the customer portal is approached to download this mobile application.

He expects that in 2025, all cases with more than 10,000 cases will be able to be handled digitally, as well as cases related to life events such as birth and car registration. Furthermore, the involvement of market players will also begin, so that they can use this central mobile application when managing a banking or insurance matter.

"Digital citizenship also obliges the state to be a digital state. It will be a competitive advantage for all sectors of the Hungarian economy," said Antal Rogán.

Biró Marcell, president of the SZTFH, said at the conference that in this uncertain and turbulent world, Hungary is facing a historic opportunity in the field of the IT economy.

The state has taken great steps in the last 10-13 years: in addition to the investor-friendly tax environment, the country can also provide attractive legal, financial and infrastructural opportunities for the establishment of high-tech enterprises within the EU.

These promote domestic innovation, contribute to the growth of Hungarian GDP, the inflow of foreign capital and can provide an attractive vision for the skilled Hungarian workforce, explained the president of the SZTFH.
