According to the Christian young man, going to Israel and becoming a soldier was a kind of "calling" and destiny for him.

Countless shrapnel pierced the body of Dósa D. Bálint as an anti-tank grenade exploded next to him. The rocket was fired by a Hamas terrorist towards the Hungarian young man and his companion, whose task it was to protect a school building. The man is a paratrooper in the Israeli army, although two years ago he had nothing to do with weapons.

Not so long ago, he played in the handball team of Ferencváros, then transferred to Tata AC.

"Even then, I was concerned that I wanted to come to Israel and settle here," Dósa D. Bálint told Blikk, who thought it important to mention that he is a Christian. At the same time, he feels and admits that going to Israel and becoming a soldier was a kind of "calling", a fateful destiny.

The strange thing about the whole thing is that he never had anything to do with the military in this country, but when he arrived in the Jewish state in the summer of 2021, he already knew that he would join the armed forces.

"I was designated as a paratrooper, the training lasted a total of 12 months," said the young man, who had never even thought of jumping out of airplanes before. – It was a very hard, much rougher strain than what I experienced as an athlete in training or anywhere else. If you had asked me before the training, I would have said that it is impossible for a person to go through such a thing.

Dósa D. Bálint did it anyway, and then became a parachute scout of unit 202.

On October 7, Hamas terrorists attacked the country and massacred more than a thousand people, including women, children, and infants.

He was at their base with his unit, they were given an hour after the alarm to put on full marching gear.

They had to leave immediately, and in the following days they were sent to three kibbutzim to identify and, if necessary, eliminate the militants who might still be hiding there. He was also there in Be'eri; this is where the Hamas people killed the Hungarian citizen Ilan Weisz, whose death was confirmed a week ago.

After cleaning up the kibbutzim, he was sent to Gaza with his unit, but before that, he underwent another very tough training to prepare him for what to expect in the seething zone.

They could only go here after the army had already prepared the entry of foot soldiers with bombings and rockets. They arrived on November 4 and stayed until the ceasefire, when they were transferred to another area.

– Our task was to occupy a school building that the terrorists used as a shelter. After we did this and the building was already empty, we had to provide cover fire to the other units of the regiment so that they could also occupy the buildings assigned to them, he said. - In the meantime, however, a terrorist somehow managed to get between us, he saw where we were shooting from, so he sent a rocket at us.

The grenade hit the wall next to the Bálintes, the explosion scattered a lot of shrapnel.

- One of the biggest ones hit me in the upper part of my thigh, but I thank the Lord that it penetrated me a few centimeters past my hamstring. If he went a little further, I could have bled immediately - he recalled the terrible moments.

Even so, it was not an easy situation, because it was very difficult to put a bandage on the bleeding wound due to the location of the injury. The Hungarian soldier was taken to the hospital and was recently able to return home to his one-and-a-half-room home.

"As soon as I fully recover, I will immediately go back to my friends," said the Hungarian young man determinedly, who believes that God intended this task for him.
