Viktor Orbán was right – as usual – when he called Brussels a parody.

The EP has now come up with the new idea that Ukraine could receive "observer" membership until accession. According to Roberta Metsola, additional benefits could be offered, such as participation in the Erasmus youth program. Yes, we are talking about Erasmus, with which Hungary was blackmailed.

Politico wrote that the lobby around the enlargement of the EU has apparently gained renewed strength, as "transition benefits" have already come to the fore in connection with Ukraine and Moldova, which are awaiting accession .

Last year, the EU designated both Ukraine and Moldova as official candidate countries, shortly after the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Since then, the pressure has actually been continuous in order for the two countries to join as soon as possible. Now Roberta Metsola, the president of the European Parliament, came up with the proposal that the official accession negotiations should start this year.

Furthermore, Metsola came up with the unusual proposal that the legislators of the two candidate countries join the assembly as "observer" members.

This would be an unprecedented step on the part of the EU. According to the President of the EP, the countries on the verge of accession could also be offered many more benefits, from single market benefits to participation in the Erasmus youth program.

Don't get me wrong: politically, if a country looks to Europe, then Europe must open its doors wide

Metsola said.

EU leaders will decide at the summit in December whether to officially open accession negotiations for Ukraine and Moldova.
