Change is needed in Brussels, because the European Union now has leaders who cannot handle the changed situation in Ukraine and migration - emphasized Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Kossuth radio Good morning, Hungary! in his show on Friday. The head of government also said that he would strengthen the unity between the voters and the country's political leadership with another national consultation in order for the government to be able to negotiate confidently and from a position of sufficient strength in Brussels, even if "it has to do so in hurricane-like headwinds".
The prime minister gave an interview on Kossuth Radio's Friday program from Brussels.
"We kneaded each other until late into the night," said the prime minister in connection with the fact that the leaders of the member states had to discuss the EU budget late into the night.
In the end, it turned out that the original 60 billion frame increase actually covered an increase of more than 100 billion. According to the Prime Minister, this amount should be pooled by the member states.
He also reported that the budget had two main focuses, the expenses related to migration and the financing of the war in Ukraine. In addition to these, there were two smaller ones, the formation of reserves and the salary increase of Brussels bureaucrats.
"The entire proposal is unsuitable for serious negotiations", so they threw it back for further consideration.
"In peacetime, when the water doesn't ripple and you can go boating, these are good leaders, but now, when there's a windstorm, there are huge waves, pirate ships also appear on the waters, we won't be able to get along with these leaders, that's for sure," he said .
According to his assessment, European leaders must be found in the European Parliament elections who, even in this difficult situation, can coordinate the work of the prime ministers and "keep us on a specific, well-defined goal and direction, and lead us there".
At the same time, he also indicated that he considers it necessary not only to change personnel in the European Union, but also in relation to migration and economic policy, because Brussels comes up from time to time with such "incompetent proposals to cancel the overhead reduction, not to take the extra profit tax from the banks from banks a part of their income, let's abolish the interest rate cap, which protects families".
The game is not going for nothing, things have become serious - said Viktor Orbán, adding that he will recommend that there be another national consultation.
About the war in Ukraine
Viktor Orbán also spoke about the situation of the war in Ukraine during the interview. "Hungary neither wants nor can support Ukraine" . According to him, whatever we do, before we spend our money, we need a strategy.
"The biggest problem is that the strategy with which the Brussels went into this war has failed."
According to him, the mistake was that we encouraged Ukraine to start an open war, and for that we gave them money and military equipment.
As long as there was a realistic scenario that Ukraine could win, there was some strategy, but the Ukrainians cannot win on the front, and every military strategist admits that, said the prime minister. Now it is embarrassing to say that the previous strategy is not working.
We need a plan B for Ukraine, the Prime Minister declared. "We will not prosper with these leaders"
- he stated, referring to next year's EU elections, and to the fact that, in his opinion, the handling of the war in Ukraine is a leadership problem.
A new national consultation is launched
He also announced that a new national consultation will be launched, on 10-11 questions. It is necessary to find those EU leaders who are able to coordinate the work of the heads of government, changes must also be made in Brussels regarding migration and economic policy, because there are also impossible economic ideas on the table. That is why we need a unit at home so that the government can negotiate with great support, and that is why another national consultation will be launched.
About migration
Viktor Orbán explained that we are ahead of 2015 in terms of migration. As he put it, "for years I fought against German pressure, who wanted to bring in the migrants." However, in terms of migration, you have to think long-term, and the fence itself was a bloodbath.
"Today, almost every country represents the same as Hungary in 2015. Our position won"
he said. And the Hungarian model works well, because only those who are entitled to it can enter.
Deportation will not work, no matter what some people believe in it.
He emphasized: together with the migrants, they brought terror, crime and conflicts that are present outside of Europe, thousands of kilometers from here. He explained: these conflicts are here today on the streets of European cities. Hungarians may feel the importance of this less, "because we don't have anything like this", since "when we had to be strong, we were strong and didn't let the migrants in", he said.
He emphasized: but those who let them in are already living with conflicts that do not belong here, but came from far away, because "they brought trouble here, instead of taking help there", even though it should be the other way around.
"There is still a lot of fighting to be done in Brussels in order for them to understand the down-to-earth Hungarian position, because they live in a bubble in Brussels," he stated. According to Orbán, people cannot be viewed in such a way as to carry out social experiments on them, as they want to do with migrants. We are talking about people from another civilization here, he added, raising the question: why should they be brought here?
Chinese connection
Viktor Orbán said about the relationship with China, somehow it happened that after 1949 a good relationship developed with the Chinese. Péter Medgyessy also developed a particularly good relationship with China, he noted.
According to the Prime Minister, we have a huge advantage in China, and it is not worth discarding the relationship with this power.
The Prime Minister pointed out that in the case of green energy, the Chinese are very good in the field of solar panels. The biggest question is who will have the ability to store the green energy produced. Today, the competition is about how long this storage capacity can be maintained, and Chinese companies are the best in the latter, explained the prime minister. We need to look for the points where we can speed up our catch-up, and green energy is the guiding thread of cooperation with the Chinese.
KISS Plus
"If there are no children, there is no future" - and this is why the new family support system, CSOK Plusz, was born.
The most important task of the government is to support childbearing.
