The soul bell of the Palini cemetery was completed with the donation of István Papp, 86, who lives in the Palini district, and his family. It was inaugurated and blessed on Saturday as part of an ecumenical service.

At the event, in addition to Tamás Csorba, parish priest of the Alsótemplom, Galambok Reformed pastor Dániel Bertók and József Veres, Lutheran pastor from Surd, blessed the recently completed soul bell. In their prayers and blessings, they all praised the selfless, kind initiative that accompanied the completion of the bell.

After the joint consecration, the parliament member Péter Cseresnyés, who was present at the event, addressed the community. According to him, according to our traditions, the bell is part of our life and faith, and the soul bell reminds us of those who cannot be with us.

Donors should be thanked, as they gave of their own to the community, in order to further enrich what is sacred and important to us

- he continued.

This example also encourages all of us to give to the community, when we have the opportunity, so that it can grow. Above all, so that we can always cherish and pass on the legacy that we have inherited to future generations.

László Kuti, the president of the Palini Sport and Cultural Association, is also proud that István Papp, who lives next to the cemetery, was so considerate. He said: the idea was born three years ago, but covid intervened, but they helped the donor's work in obtaining the appropriate permits.

As a reader of Zalai Hírlap, I looked at the soul bells made in the surrounding settlements, Surd, Belezná and Nemespátró, and I liked the latter the best

said the 86-year-old István Papp.

I would have liked a similar one for the Palin cemetery. Therefore, I financed the construction at my own expense with the money I had set aside.

The support structure was attached to the wall of the funeral home, so the bell could be made with a lot of help.
