Referendum on child protection 2022. In left-liberal-led countries, it is not even discussed at government level that the education of children is entrusted primarily to the parents

By placing the decision on the education of the future generation in the hands of the population, the Hungarian government has repeatedly put its faith in democracy, popular sovereignty and the protection of families, constitutional lawyer Zoltán Lomnici Jr. told Magyar Hírlap.

- Why is the referendum so important?

- Our country has been hit by numerous baseless international attacks, which is why the Parliament adopted the Child Protection Act, which has since entered into force, which is primarily the most obvious and most effective solution to repel the offensives coming from Brussels, if the Hungarian government can present a referendum result that clearly proves, that Hungarian people want to protect their children and say no to violent LGBTQ propaganda.

- According to the left, it is a fake problem, there is no point in the referendum. What do you think about this?

- We have not seen a precedent for a referendum on such a subject in European legal history, from which we can conclude two things. On the one hand, it is clear that those who believe in the conservative family model and reject sexual propaganda aimed at children are facing a new problem. On the other hand, it turns out that in left-liberal-led countries, there is no question at the government level of entrusting the upbringing of children primarily to the parents, or of consulting with the parents about the factors influencing their physical, mental and spiritual development. The questions submitted to the referendum are based around the protection of children.

The rights of children and the right of parents to education are declared by numerous national and international legal documents, however, the increasingly aggressive LGBTQ propaganda calls for more effective child protection. In many countries, gender reassignment treatments are promoted for minor children without parents being consulted, classes on sexual orientation are held in public educational institutions, sexual media content that affects their development is presented to minor children, and media content showing gender change.

On the other hand, in our country, parents are asked for their opinion and they are provided with all the conditions necessary to protect their children. In contrast to left-liberal governments, the national-civilian administration does not govern over the people, but together with the nation, and makes decisions in accordance with the will of the people. By putting the decision on the education of the future generation in the hands of the population, the Hungarian government has repeatedly put its faith in democracy, popular sovereignty and the protection of families.

– What is needed for the referendum to be valid?

– According to the March data, the number of voters is 8,222,215. This means that the number of valid votes required for the validity of the referendum - which is a prerequisite for success - is at least 4,111,108. Based on the ratio of invalid answers to the questions of referendums held since 1989 and the ratio of all answers, on average 2.43 percent of the referendum forms are invalid, so slightly we can predict a valid referendum from more than 4.2 million submitted forms. In recent weeks, a number of left-wing politicians and NGOs promoting the ideology of open societies have encouraged invalid voting, so a higher proportion of invalid votes should be expected.
