Swordsman Áron Szilágyi supports the Regőczi Foundation with more than one million forints. With the press conference, I would like to draw attention to the fact that the "Covid-orphans" still need help, said Anita Herczegh, president of the foundation's board of trustees and wife of former president János Áder, in Budapest on Thursday.

Anita Herczegh reminded: the three-time Olympic, two-time world and three-time European champion is already a supporter in 2021, it is good to be good! campaign, he was a goodwill ambassador for the foundation. Now "perhaps we are even more grateful for his stand", because although most of us would like to forget the coronavirus epidemic,

at the foundation, the number of supported children exceeds 1,350.

He added that ten percent of these children were younger than 6 years old when they became orphans, so they will need help for another 15-20 years. Among the beneficiaries is a Covid orphan born in 2022. The foundation provides financial support to children until they reach adulthood, or until they can stand on their own two feet. In addition to financial support, they can also receive legal and psychological help, and they can also participate in cultural programs and vacations, explained Anita Herczegh.

Áron Szilágyi called the Vasas Pasaréti Sports Center, the location of the press conference, his "second home". He said that when he and his sponsor, the Hungarian-owned fencing equipment manufacturer PBT Fencing, were looking for "some good cause" worth supporting, they didn't have to search for long.

Since the epidemic subsided, there has been less talk about it, but the Covid orphans still need help - emphasized Áron Szilágyi. He expressed his hope that by offering and standing up, he could contribute to more people thinking about their support.

According to the information of the Regőczi Foundation, in 2022 PBT Fencing launched a limited series of swords, engraved with a unique serial number, dedicated by Áron Szilágyi, Vasas SC competitor and president of the fencing division. 263 of the exclusive swords were produced and sold; just as much because Áron Szilágyi won the combined World Cup points competition of the 2020/2021 season with this score. Fans and collectors from all over the world bought these. Thanks to the sales, they will eventually be able to help the foundation's work with HUF 1,054,000, the announcement states.

The Regőczi Foundation was established by President János Áder with the aim of providing long-term, personalized care to children who lost one or both parents during the pandemic. The video interview with the couple awarded the Spiritual Defender Award can be viewed here.
