His mother, Jaime Jara, said that Dempsey has been transgender since he was 18 months old, openly accepting his new gender: wearing girly clothes and growing long hair.
Her parents have previously been accused of child abuse, saying that confusing a developing child's gender identity can have fatal psychological consequences.
Nevertheless, in 2019, Dempsey's parents changed her birth certificate, making her officially a girl at just 7 years old. The question arises as to how a one-and-a-half-year-old boy can express his trans identity.
Even an 11-year-old doesn't have the foresight to make the life-changing decision to change their birth gender—and the LGBTQ community proudly displays it as a symbol.
