This is how they try to protect us from online scammers.
"We also know that in the name of the police they send you text messages about unpaid fines, penalties and who knows what else they will come up with," Kristóf Gál, the police spokesperson, said in his latest video uploaded to Facebook.
Dear Scammers! If you keep it up, we'll find out where you live and stuff...
he told the fraudsters.
This is what we should do if we receive fraudulent SMS!
"Do you think we're sending SMS asking you for money? Surely not. Never. No way. Not at all. It cannot happen. That is not the case," he stated. Adding that
"so when someone claims in an SMS that you owe us, it's a lie, a fraud, a scam."
So be careful if you get such a message, don't click on the link and don't pay anything. Let us know, we'll take care of it!"
asked the spokesperson. As he put it: "we are here to protect you in the online space as well."
