The Alba Aréna will be the future home of the Hydro Fehérvár AV19 ice hockey team from Székesfehérvár, which is based in Austria, and will function as an event and community center. In addition to Fehérvár and domestic ice hockey, it can also serve 20-25 indoor sports, and it will occasionally be able to accommodate more than six thousand spectators. The multifunctional hall can accommodate 6,000 people for hockey matches, and up to 8,000 people for concerts and other events. The construction cost exceeds HUF 45 billion.

Who is building the Alba Arena?
the Magyar Építók report, the facility, under the general construction of Market Építő Zrt., has been under construction for almost two years now, and the exterior has already taken on its final shape to a significant degree: among other things, the spectacular roofing elements were already in place in the summer. Several member companies and strategic partners of the KÉSZ Group also played a significant role in the works: they contracted for the design, production and implementation of the steel roof structure and the special plate covering. Market's subsidiary Moratus Kft. played a key role in the structural construction works, while HBM Kft. was responsible for the implementation of the complex civil engineering tasks. The building was designed by architects Attila Tamás Tarnóczky and Mihály Balázs.
Currently, the interior works are still being carried out with great effort, the planned handover is at the very end of 2023. In the past period, the various systems were tested by the contractors, and this week it was their turn to make ice, reports Fejér Vármegyei Hírportál, Feol.hu.
How much does the Alba Arena cost?
In the case of current energy prices, a particularly important question is how energy-efficient the building will be. The contractors have already informed us that the gas will not be introduced into the arena in the first place, but heat pumps will primarily ensure the appropriate indoor temperature. They do require electricity to operate, but since the lowest level of the facility and the track are below ground level, they are recessed, which significantly reduces cooling and heating costs.
Based on the 2018 public procurement procedure, the construction cost of the Alba Arena would have been 25 billion net, but later, in 2021, the EU public procurement notice already included more than HUF 35 billion.
In May 2022, MTI already wrote about 45.86 billion.
The overall picture also includes the fact that Székesfehérvár is the stronghold of ice hockey. Volán is unique with its 1,700 season ticket holders and 3,000 spectators per game.
