According to Hungarian traditions, the family gathers on December 24, i.e. Christmas Eve. This year, Penny's employees can also participate in the holiday preparations at home, after the managers of the store chain made the decision to close.

In addition to the two Christmas holidays, Penny 230's store in Hungary is also closed on December 24 this year. In the days leading up to this, the store chain tries to make it easier for its customers to prepare with longer opening hours. This is not the first time in Penny's history that it does not open on December 24th. The last time it decided in 2016 was to keep its stores closed on Christmas Eve, which falls on a Sunday, the chain's announcement reads.

The management of Penny, after examining the interests of its employees and customers, and also responding to the request of the Trade Union of Trade Employees (KASZ), decided to keep all its stores closed between December 24 and 26. At the same time, the store chain is waiting for customers with extended opening hours on December 22 and 23.

"According to Hungarian traditions, the family gathers on December 24, i.e. Christmas Eve. This year, thanks to Penny's decision, all our employees will once again have the opportunity to spend the preparation period with their loved ones on this day. Of course, we also kept the interests of our customers in mind when making the decision, so we provide them with longer opening hours in the days leading up to the holiday," said Eszter Kazatsay, Head of Communications at Penny in Hungary.

In addition, Penny draws the attention of its customers to careful planning: it is worth buying durable food even weeks before the holiday.

And for those who are forced to leave their purchases to the last minute, the store chain also offers good news: before the three-day holiday period, on December 22 and 23, customers are waiting for customers until 10 p.m. in all their stores, and from December 27, the usual are open during business hours.
