Bird flu is once again claiming its victims at a rapid pace in Hungary. This time there is no danger to humans, but poultry flocks and wild cranes are drastically decimated by the epidemic.
We have become accustomed to the fact that one of the most spectacular phenomena of autumn every year is the migration of the cranes from Hortobágy. This year, however, a severe bird flu is wreaking havoc and taking its toll.
According to the suggestion of Dr. Pásztor Szabolcs, head veterinarian, we can keep the virus away from our homes and animals by using disinfectants in the poultry areas and by following the epidemiological protection regulations.
The virus cannot be cured, but ornithologists and veterinarians do everything possible to safely remove it.
According to experts, the probability that the disease will spread from birds to humans is small, but it is still not impossible, bird flu has claimed the most deaths in Vietnam and Thailand so far, but people have also died from the virus in Indonesia and Cambodia.
The spread of bird flu can be tracked website of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih)
