Serbia's accession to the EU is also a prominent topic in the current election campaign.

The vice-president of the Vojvodina Hungarian Association (VMSZ) considers it unfair that Brussels does not recognize the country's efforts for EU membership. Elvira Kovács highlighted in the M1 program that the VMSZ has been Europe-friendly since its foundation.

Serbia received the candidate status more than ten years ago, but no meaningful progress has been made since then.

This topic will also play a prominent role in the current election campaign in Serbia, where early elections will be held next Sunday.

"Generally, they always say that the Western Balkans is also important and we are thinking about it and counting on it in the coming period, but Serbia and the other Western Balkan member states are not in a good situation either, because no new chapters have been opened in the last two years, i.e. now cluster opening according to the new methodology. So they didn't even show the good intention that we had amended the constitution and harmonized our laws. Here, the Serbian House of Representatives has done a lot in this area," said Elvira Kovács, vice president of the Vojvodina Hungarian Association.
