Cardinal Péter Erdő, Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest, and Anita Herczegh, Goodwill Ambassador of the Catholic Caritász, handed over personalized Christmas gift packages to two hundred needy children at the Parish Church of the Heart of Jesus in Budapest-Városmajor on Saturday afternoon.

Péter Erdő told the children: at Christmas, we celebrate not only the pine tree, the gifts, and not ourselves, but Jesus Christ, in whom God's love came to earth among us.

The cardinal emphasized: the image of a family gathering under the Christmas tree in love, peace, and bringing joy to each other shows what a person's life should be like. God wants to gather humanity as a big family. His love embraces the whole world,

"let's just let it prevail, just don't resist it, don't reject it"

asked Péter Erdő.

Gábor Écsy, the national director of Katolikus Karitász, said: the aid organization launched the Open Your Hearts at the end of November. Advent fundraising campaign, which includes several promotions.

Among them, in the Angyalbatyu program, children bring joy to children by making gift packages for the benefit of their poorer contemporaries, giving up their own toys. The gifts were collected by the staff of the Saint Elizabeth Charity Center of the Esztergom-Budapest Archdiocese and supplemented with additional gifts.

Gábor Écsy asked the gifted children to see not only the toys in the package, but also the love, care and compassion directed towards them, with which the gifts were made by their peers.
