The relation of sovereign Europe and the independence of nations to federal European ideas - possible directions for the improvement of the EU's institutional system was the title of IV. to a panel discussion at the EuCET conference. These are perhaps the most important questions in the European Union today. Is it possible to say whether the Union's left-liberal leadership has clearly deviated from the path that was intended by the founding fathers? In other words, did you define the European Union as a bottom-up organization of equal, sovereign nation-states, or are we in the middle of a process?
