Filming of Golden Bear and Oscar nominee Enyedi Ildikó Enyedi's new international co-production movie Quiet Friend will begin in April and will last for several seasons. The National Film Institute voted HUF 500 million in support for the production. As is known, the director, who previously received billions of dollars in support, declared to a German newspaper that she has not been able to be proud of her country for a long time because of the conditions here, and spoke about the destruction of domestic democracy.

According to Enyedi

"it never occurred to me that I have to like our prime minister in order to work", what is happening in Hungary today is a shame and fills him personally with fear.

"(...) they fundamentally change and destroy the rules, they destroy the foundations of democracy and democratic control. I would love to be proud of my country, but I haven't been able to be for many years now, and it hurts me."

Returning to today's news, the German-French-Hungarian co-production, working under the title Quiet Friend, takes place in the botanical garden of the medieval German university town of Marburg, runs on three lines, and plays an important role in an old tree brought to Europe from South America. Recently, the film fund of the Council of Europe, Eurimages, awarded a film production grant of 500,000 euros to the work, they remind us in its information.

"The lone tree, transplanted here from afar, has been watching the life around it for almost two hundred years - both plant, animal and human," the information sheet quotes the director, who said: three periods (1908, 1972, 2020) and three people were selected for the tree from his long life.

One of the main roles in the film is played by Tony Leung (Tune for Love), who plays a renowned neurologist who travels from his hometown of Hong Kong to the University of Marburg.

The motion picture under the working title Quiet Friend is being produced by Reinhard Brundig, co-produced by Monika Mécs (Inforg-M&M Film), Nicolas Elghozi (Galatée Films) and Meng Hszie (Rediance), the release states.
