At the European Men's Water Polo Championship in Croatia, the Hungarian national team entered the pool against Serbia for the semi-finals.
In a match that was evenly matched throughout, in a big fight, he won with a five-meter penalty, as Marko Radulovics dropped the ball from his hand during his own attempt, and since the others all scored, we won. After our heroic victory against the Italians, the Serbians vowed not to underestimate the young Hungarian team, and they did so.
Despite this, the Hungarian national team did not get scared and played with great concentration throughout.
Both teams were characterized by extraordinary tactical discipline, which is why neither national team could lead by more than one goal. Sometimes we and sometimes the Serbs grabbed the lead, and although we entered the last quarter with a one-goal advantage, the fatigue was already visible, so there were few real chances. The Serbs still gained an advantage, so we had to equalize shortly before the end, which Vince Vigvári managed (10-10), and then we defended a Serbian man advantage. The last attack was ours, but we didn't risk it, so the five-meters could come.
In the shootout, the Hungarian players did not shake their hands, but Marko Radulovics's ball slipped out of his hands, so this clumsy move decided the question of advancing.
