The police officers on duty arrested a total of 702 border violators and prevented 366 people from illegally entering the territory of our country.

The most border violators were still arrested in Csongrád-Csanád county, where 536 people tried to enter illegally, reports Police.hu.

During the checks, the detained illegal migrants claimed to be Senegalese, Yemeni, Palestinian, Algerian, Syrian, Iraqi, Tunisian, Afghan, Indian, Pakistani and Turkish citizens, however, they could not credibly prove their identity or the legality of their stay in Hungary.

The police escorted them back to the temporary border security checkpoint in accordance with the current Hungarian legislation.

Organized human trafficking gangs opened a new way for illegal migration to Western Europe through Slovakia.

In Budapest, the police stopped a Hungarian truck driven by a 19-year-old Iraqi man. In addition to him, 17 foreigners claiming to be Syrian citizens were traveling in the vehicle.

At Tata, the uniformed officers took action against the driver of a Czech passenger car, where the 48-year-old Ukrainian man was transporting eight foreigners claiming to be Syrian citizens in the vehicle.

A Polish passenger car was stopped at Kisszállás, but several people got out of the vehicle and ran away before the measure began. The driver, a 49-year-old Polish citizen, was arrested on the spot. The police took the necessary measures to search for presumably illegal migrants fleeing the scene.

In none of the cases were the passengers able to credibly prove their identity or the legality of their stay in Hungary, so the police took action in accordance with Hungarian legislation.

The illegal immigrants were escorted back to the temporary security border, while the drivers were prosecuted for human smuggling.
