For thirteen years, the Evangelical Free University of Budavar has been organized on the second Monday of every month. The last speaker on January 8 was Ádám Bősze, music historian and presenter. On the evening about the singing of the angels, Lutheran bishop Tamás Fabiny gave a sermon in the packed Budavar Lutheran chapel.
Before the presentation, which was interwoven with many anecdotes and humor, Bishop Tamás Fabiny read the part of the 7th chapter of the Book of Revelation, which talks about the glorification of the Lamb standing before the throne. As he said
we join a heavenly service, the center of which is God's throne, the royal chair. Angels, cherubim and seraphim sing the praises of the victorious sacrificial Lamb before countless multitudes.
According to the scriptures, the members of the church are the overcomers who fought the noble battle of faith and came to the throne from all peoples and nations. This indicates the completeness, internationality, and transcendence of nations of the heavenly church. We are still together in an ecumenical circle - he added - we are very happy for all visitors who are Reformed, Catholic, Baptist or even not belonging to a church. Whoever comes before God's throne makes peace with himself, his brother, his enemy, but also with God.
In his explanation of the passage from the Book of Revelation, he also touched on the fact that the members of the glorifying, white-robed great crowd are the ones who have taken on the great tribulation. In this regard, he recalled his recent experience in Transcarpathia, when he could see the misery, fear, anxiety, and vulnerability up close, and also mentioned the horrific events in the Holy Land. He emphasized that we need the hope expressed in this heavenly hymn: there will be no more suffering, God will wipe away all tears from our eyes. The song of the angels expresses this consolation.
Ádám Bősze is a popular presenter and music historian, many people listened to his programs on Bartók radio, and many people follow him on his social media pages and love his interesting speeches. After graduating from high school, he was a student at the Franciscan Theological College as a monk, and taught Catholic religious studies at Deák Tér Evangelical High School for half a year. He completed his musical studies at the musicology department of the Academy of Music. Since 2010, he has been the president of the Association of Hungarian Antiquarians and moderator of cultural events
Bishop Tamás Fabiny introduced the speaker.
Recently, Ádám Bősze led his performance, I am interested in the afterlife, especially those creatures that appeared in the history of music: witches, fairies, half-humans, half-animals, centaurs, mermaids, spirits of the mountain. Among them, the angels stand out, who, according to my idea, are real. There are many kinds of angels, he explained, and showed a depiction of angels with three pairs of wings, i.e. seraphim, who, according to the medieval idea, stand at the top of the nine orders of angels. The seraphic hymn, the Triszágion (Holy, holy, holy) already appeared in the liturgy of the Middle Ages as a constant chant of the mass, he added.
