At the Párbeszéd congress held on Saturday, it decided on the European Parliament list and the replacement of the two members of the presidency who resigned earlier. Gergely Karácsony has decided to apply for a seat in the European Parliament in addition to his candidacy for mayor.
The opposition party held a congress on Saturday, Párbeszéd - Zöldek - announced on its social media page As a result of the polls, an EP list consisting of civilians and activists was created. Benedek Jávor at the helm, who together with mayor Gergely Karácsony was re-elected to the party's presidency. At the congress, the delegates also voted on the party's EP list:
• Benedek Jávor, leader of the EP list of Párbeszéd – Greens, member of the presidency, head of the Brussels office of Budapest, former EP representative
• Judit Hlavács, anti-battery factory activist, former Göd municipality representative
• Krisztián Kocsis is a neurobiological researcher and head of the Roma Workshop
• Tímea Szabó, faction leader of Párbeszéd - Greens
• Gergely Karácsony, mayor of Budapest, board member of Párbeszéd – Greens
• Student activist Mia Machač-Tóth
• Richárd Barabás, spokesman for Párbeszéd – Greens, deputy mayor of Újbuda
• Andrea Szaszkó is a civilian anti-battery factory activist
• Gábor Erőss, the Dialogue - Greens VIII. district deputy mayor
• Rebeka Szabó, co-chairman of Párbeszéd - Greens, parliamentary representative
In addition to his candidacy for mayor, Gergely Karácsony joined the queue for an EP mandate. As he prepares for the local government elections - thanks to his scandals - the air around the city manager is getting thinner and thinner, despite the fact that he has already announced that he will run for the position again.
In light of this, running on the EP list may be somewhat surprising, but following Gergely Karácsony's political career, it can be seen that the left-wing politician runs in virtually every election that is held. There was already II. candidate for district mayor, mayor of Zugló, candidate for prime minister and mayor, not yet an EP representative.
At the same time, as the fifth candidate, there is no serious danger of Gergely Karácsony leaving Budapest for Brussels. Since EP elections have been held in Hungary, only once has a left-wing party managed to send more than four candidates to Brussels: the MSZP in 2004.
