To be precise, the last time a Hungarian player appeared in a La Liga match was Ádám Pintér in the Zaragoza team against Atlético Madrid on June 1, 2013. The fact that Girona's U21 national team - whose father is Georgian but was born in Budapest - was given the opportunity is not entirely unexpected, as he already made his debut in the Spanish King's Cup match against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday, writes the Hungarian Nation.
Antal Yaakobishvili stood his ground, but at that time he could not yet know whether he would be in the squad for the match against Sevilla on Sunday. Regarding the senior national team, he said that for now it is his dream to play in the national team, he must first prove himself in the U21 team, in which he has played once so far.
- Marco Rossi's invitation is still far away, until then I have to improve a lot, I want to progress step by step. I would like to play as much as possible in the first team of Girona in the next one year, we will see the rest - said Antal Yaakobishvili.
Well, on Sunday, he came on in the 30th minute with his team leading 3-1 after Spain's Juanpe was injured in defense and Yaakobishvili replaced him brilliantly. 37 of his 42 passes were successful, five of his seven starts, he cleared three times, mounted twice, and won four of his seven duels.
