According to the Minister of Agriculture, normality and the work of farmers, who stand with both feet on the ground, must be appreciated.

Minister of Agriculture István Nagy discussed the banning of artificial meat and the protection of traditional rural values in his office with Ettore Prandini, the president of the Italian producer organization Coldiretti, on Thursday, the Ministry of Agriculture told MTI. According to their statement, the head of the ministry explained that

Italy also banned the production and distribution of synthetic meat, which "is also being studied by our country and considered an example to be followed".

The issue of regulation is also on the agenda of Hungary's EU presidency, because they want to conduct a broad dialogue on the topic.

According to the minister, normality and the work of farmers, who stand with two feet on the ground, must be appreciated.

Some of the people have distanced themselves from nature, "a pseudo-romanticism develops in relation to the living world" . The majority of society must understand that without farmers there is no food and no future, he added, indicating that they are therefore working on how to restore social recognition for the farming community.

István Nagy also touched on the fact that an unprecedented amount of funds are available to support investments in the domestic food industry. "Our country also relies on Italian investors and technological know-how to implement developments."

The meeting also discussed the management of market difficulties caused by Ukrainian agricultural products. In connection with this, the minister spoke about the fact that the market is being taken over, and in this situation "it is our duty to protect the interests of Hungarian farmers".

It is an important principle for Hungary that food entering the Union from third countries must also comply with EU quality standards, he added.
