Civilians committed to the protection of local cultural values founded an association called Badacsony Szőlőhegyért in 2023, basically with the aim of heritage protection and knowledge and attitude formation. The association wishes to act as an active participant in the preservation and sustainable development of the natural and cultural values of Badacsony Mountain and its surroundings. The aim was to explore, systematize and present the viticulture and wine heritage, natural values, intellectual, material and built heritage.

On the base of the national pyramid of values, our national values that can be found here and beyond the border are gathered and piled on top of each other. At the top of the pyramid are the special values that mark the peak performance of Hungarians, the hungarikums.

The Hungarikum Law (2012.XXX.trv.) enacted in 2012 gives Hungarian organizations abroad the opportunity to establish a "National Treasury Committee" and Hungarian municipalities to establish a "Settlement Treasury Committee". The purpose and task of the treasure committees is to uncover the tangible, natural and spiritual values found in the settlement, organize them into a collection and preserve them for posterity.

In the Carpathian Basin, seven "Foreign Nationality Treasures Committees" were established to preserve the national values characteristic of Hungarians living in the territory of the given country. In Hungary, Settlement Treasurer Committees have been established in about a third of the 3,200 settlements, and regionally there are eight Landscape Unit Treasurer Committees.

Badacsony, the imposing witness mountain reflected in Lake Balaton, is an iconic region of Hungary, one of the country's visual symbols. Badacsony Hill and its surroundings are an area rich not only in natural values, but also in built heritage and cultural traditions. The exploration and preservation of geological features, special vegetation, two thousand years of viticulture, wine and viticultural culture and related built heritage, the world of wine cellars, press houses and holiday homes, their traditions and values can not only strengthen the base of the national pyramid of values, but also at the top of the pyramid, it could also occupy a prominent place among the Hungarians.

This is only possible by compiling a single-regional value repository, which would also make the true values of Badacsony Hill known. The image of the landscape, which is more valuable than anything else, can only be protected by possessing this knowledge that means protection.

The mountain belongs to three settlements, Badacsonytomaj, Badacsonytördemic and Nemesgulács share it, but it would not be fortunate to share the mountain and its values, and in fact it is not possible. The Badacsony Szőlőhegyért Egyesület therefore initiated the creation of a Landscape Treasures Committee together with the three municipalities.

The ceremonial signing of the contract of the Landscape Unit Archives and the presentation of the committee members will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 3 p.m. in the renovated and newly handed over Tátika monument building in Badacsony, which evokes the Balaton world of the 1960s.
