The 95-year-old Dr. David Marjot holds an MA in Modern and Contemporary European Philosophy from Kingston University. With this, Dr. Marjot became the oldest person ever to graduate from university, breaking the 20-year-old record previously held by a 93-year-old, the Mirror reported.
The world's oldest university student originally signed up for the course to occupy his thoughts after losing his wife after 65 years of happy marriage.
The graduation ceremony took place at the beginning of the month, where the retired psychiatrist was accompanied by his son and son-in-law. The other students and graduates of the institution gave the old man a standing ovation as he received his diploma on stage during the ceremony.
