Under the title Heritage – Knowledge – Community, Szentendre Skanzen's six-month-long nationwide event series begins, during which interested parties are welcomed at professional and community meetings at 79 locations.

The Skanzen's programs, which include exhibitions, lectures, and training, will be delivered to small towns in Hungary with the help of its nationwide network, according to a statement sent to MTI by the Open-Air Ethnographic Museum in Szentendre on Monday.

As the first stop, the photo exhibition entitled Spiritual Cultural Heritage in Hungary will be opened at Móricgát in Bács-Kiskun county, and then the traveling exhibition will be shown at 17 other locations in the country.

Commissioned by the Skanzen Intangible Cultural Heritage Board

The artistic photographs taken by Balázs Farkas-Mohi give a glimpse into the life of our communities, into the world of colorful traditions included in the national list of intellectual cultural heritage: from the bus tour of Mohács to falconry and the Hungarian circus tradition, says the description of the exhibition. In the photographs, visitors can get to know not only the living crafts, gastronomy and performing arts customs, but also the heritage communities operating in the given region and nurturing their traditions.

In addition, scientific and educational lectures, so-called Heritage workshops, are organized in 40 settlements of the country, the aim of which is to bring the intellectual cultural heritage items on the national list closer to those interested.

At the presentations, an invited expert and a representative of a community will acquaint the interested parties with the cultural-historical, ethnographic background and the living heritage of the region concerned. In doing so, it pays special attention to the traditions typical of the region, and to customs that have not yet been added to the list, but are still alive.

The exhibition series Photon a multt presents selections from the Skanzen's ethnographic photo collection, and presents architectural memories of folk and industrial heritage, as well as rural architectural traditions of the recent past.

The photo selection is supplemented everywhere with old photos of the given settlement. The locations of the exhibition are villages and towns from which Skanzen's ethnographic research buildings were selected for the Alföldi market town landscape.

In the presentations entitled Dementia in focus - Museum for well-being, the Skanzen's activities developed for the elderly living with dementia will be presented to those interested.

The four courses coordinated by the Skanzen – Hungarian Landscape Houses Central Administration offer continuing education opportunities for the employees of the landscape houses. According to the announcement, through the digitization sample project, the art collection of five country houses will be processed and made available.

As part of the series of programs, the Directorate of the Center for Museum Education and Methodology in Skanzen organizes regional knowledge transfer meetings for museum and cultural professionals. On these occasions, with the involvement of foreign speakers, they can learn about good international practices and visitor-friendly developments.

The series of national programs is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation within the framework of the Regional Cultural Services Model Program of the National Institute of Culture.
