With the effective support of civil organizations, the railway station in Székesfehérvár became the second in the country - after Veszprém - to become animal-friendly.

At the Tuesday press conference on the subject , Péter Ovádi, the government commissioner responsible for the development and implementation of the Animal Protection Action Plan , emphasized that

"animal protection is a real team effort", success requires the cooperation of the state, municipalities, civil organizations, government offices and society.

He believed that Székesfehérvár is committed to animal protection, the city started to support the civil organizations dealing with animal protection ahead of the government's ambitions, there is real cooperation with them, which can serve as a compass for the country as a whole.

The government commissioner pointed out that they can be really successful if the government also supports the case, which happened, since

last year, a tender with a budget of HUF 500 million was announced for NGOs, and 187 NGOs won. He indicated that this application opportunity will appear again in February.

László Mosóczi, the CEO of MÁV-START and Volánbusz Zrt. , spoke about how the company group is committed to animal protection not only at its railway stations, but also at its HÉV and bus stations. As he said, they regularly meet live animals at the stations, often stray animals, in order to safely place the latter and find their owners - in cooperation with the Our Common Cause Animal Protection Foundation - a chip reader was installed at the Székesfehérvár railway station.

The of the Animal Protection Foundation , Szilvia Vetter, stated that the cooperation agreement signed with the MÁV-Volán group has concrete results in addition to the ideal, since they are jointly trying to take steps to bring stray animals home. In order to do this

the foundation donated five chip readers to the company, one of which was installed in Székesfehérvár, and the MÁV-Volán group will also be provided with information packages so that as many passengers as possible can meet the most important principles of responsible animal husbandry.

Mayor András Cser-Palkovics (Fidesz) announced that the city's budget for 2024 will be discussed next week and due to the increased energy prices in the previous year

increased operating support will be the basic support for civil organizations dealing with animal protection this year, which will be supplemented if necessary.
