Katalin Novák, minister without portfolio responsible for families, was honored with the Tamás Szent Mórus award in Rome, the minister's press department informed MTI on Sunday.

According to the announcement, in Rome, on the occasion of this year's multi-day conference of Catholic legislators, the effectiveness of Katalin Novák's work was recognized with the Tamás Szent Mórus Award, which, as they put it, "serves to strengthen families and popularize marriages in our country."

The award, named after the saint of the Catholic Church, the former English Lord Chancellor, humanist statesman, martyr of the Anglican Church and the Roman Catholic Church, has been awarded to one person every year worldwide by the International Catholic Legislative Council (ICLN).

According to the wording of the communique, this award "was named for good reason after the patron saint of statesmen and lawyers", Tamás Szent Mórus, who was canonized in 1935 and who for generations has inspired judges, lawyers, legal professionals and civil servants of different religions to dedicate their lives to be placed at the service of the public good.
