The wires emerging from the disintegrated insulation, the often uninsulated electric cables hanging on the sidewalk or over the Danube - this is what the newly renovated Lánchíd looks like. Gergely Karácsony once again testified that he does not care about one of the jewels of the capital.

A-Híd-Zrt, which renovated the chain bridge, carried out frantic, life-threatening abutment work. There is a strong suspicion that there was no money for the work that was done with integrity, the amount allocated for this had to be used elsewhere.

The contractor probably saved the hundreds of millions that disappeared during the bridge money scandal on the electrical installation work.

As ordinary passers-by, Metropol employees took a closer look at the Chain Bridge and found shocking abutment work, improperly insulated wires that endanger pedestrians, defective coverings, and cables swaying in the wind. Pedestrians are clearly at risk of electric shock!

For example, a closer look at one of the candelabra. The negligence is shocking.

The wires were simply strung between the supporting elements of the bridge, and many times they didn't even bother to cover them.

During the renovation of the bridge, the cheapest possible insulating materials, so-called "laryngeal tubes", were used. These broke in several places after a few months.

Due to careless work, the power lines are hanging over the Danube in several places, swaying in the wind.

The cheap insulation was attached to the metal body of the bridge with penny cable ties in the best possible way, so they can hardly withstand the weather, the strong wind that often blows on the bridge.

The cables running on the outside of the bridge were simply pulled through the support structure, no one cared about safety or even aesthetics.

In some places, the cables were fixed with clamps, but since the screws were not even tightened properly, some of them came loose. There is nothing holding the wires like this.

The electrical cables were looped and connected in several places. I don't understand why they weren't cut to size.

The cables running under the bridge were simply thrown over the railings or crumpled into the scaffolding.

Since the electrical installation work of the Chain Bridge was carried out in the last stage of the renovation, there is a strong suspicion that the executor A-Híd Zrt.'s coffers had been emptied by now, and the hundreds of millions previously transferred would have been needed for the professional work.

The bridge money scandal erupted in January this year, when it was revealed that A-Híd Zrt., which won the renovation of the Chain Bridge, transferred HUF 1.4 billion between November 2020 and July 2022, i.e. at the time of the bridge investment, to Vig Mór's company, Sunstrike, which is suspected of serious crimes in the invoice fraud case Kft.

Then HUF 900 million of this amount was immediately transferred to Vig Mór's private and lawyer's escrow account.

The scandal is believed to be the biggest embezzlement of the past decade, the NAV is investigating the case, the Government Audit Office (KEHI) has launched an investigation, and several reports have been filed.
