Before the agenda, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán spoke early Monday afternoon in the parliament, at the beginning of the spring session of the Parliament.
"We have a busy day ahead of us." Today, we will accept the resignation of the lady president, elect the new president of the republic and vote for Sweden's NATO accession - said Viktor Orbán in his speech before the agenda in the parliament. On the first day of the spring session, the Prime Minister said that there is zero tolerance in Hungary regarding child protection.
– The perpetrator must be punished, and the sentence must be served. There is no mercy, he stated.
As he indicated, the legislation must also guarantee that this cannot happen again, so it is important to review and tighten them.
- The crimes committed in the children's home in Bicske raise serious concerns. I ordered an investigation that applies to the head of all child protection institutions. We will screen everyone - underlined the prime minister.
He emphasized that crimes committed against children cause strong emotions, so the authorities are rightly expected to carry out the most thorough investigations.
- Hungary is a strong and stable country. A change of the president of the republic must be resolved in such a way that there is no temporary disturbance in the life of the country. We can fulfill this if we elect the new president of the republic immediately, he said. He added: Tamás Sulyok is the president of the Constitutional Court. Vast experience, respectable knowledge and undisputed authority.
According to the prime minister, Hungary now needs such a president.
Viktor Orbán said: they support Sweden's accession to NATO. He emphasized that, in his opinion, it is important to settle our disputes before admitting a new member to the association. Several people tried to intervene in the settlement of our disputes with the Swedes, but this did not help, but hindered the matter. As he said, Hungary does not allow it to be dictated to from outside.
He explained: the Swedish president's visit on Friday successfully contributed to the respectful relationship between the two countries. There will still be differences of opinion, but we look at them with understanding, as befits serious nations. Informed: the agreements concluded now strengthen the security of both countries.
- Hungary's air defense and air attack capabilities are ensured by Swedish-made fighter jets. We are extending the previous contract and purchasing four new fighter jets. With this, the Hungarian Air Force will also be able to carry out NATO tasks in the territory of the country with the fighter jets kept in our own military order, he said.
The prime minister said that cooperation with Sweden will also begin in the field of research and development. "I ask the representatives to vote for Sweden's NATO accession," he added.
He mentioned that the Russian-Ukrainian war broke out two years ago, and the extent of the destruction is unfathomable. He reminded that we are supporting Ukraine with Hungary's largest humanitarian aid. - There is no military solution to this conflict. The war must end, the Prime Minister underlined. He added: we do not want to live in the neighborhood of a protracted war. He emphasized that they will work for a ceasefire and peace.
- I wish you all the best of luck in the work of the session ahead of us - said Viktor Orbán.
