"Jesus ✝ I am the way, the truth and the life" (Jn 14:6) is considered a religious advertisement and is subject to a fine of one thousand euros.

A taxi driver in Germany was fined for having a Bible quote on his car. The "sin" of the Iranian-born man who converted to Christianity is religious advertising.

On the back window of the car of Jalil Masali, of Iranian origin, who works in Essen, Germany, this is all that can be read: "Jesus ✝ I am the way, the truth and the life" (Jn 14:6). In October of last year, the municipality asked the taxi driver to remove the sticker classified as religious advertising, and threatened to impose a fine of one thousand euros because of the text. The taxi driver was eventually fined 88.50 euros (HUF 34,500).

Masali refused to remove the sticker and challenged the decision legally.

“Jesus is the best thing I can offer anyone because he changed my life. That's why I have the sticker on my car so anyone who cares can see it. I don't mean to cause trouble, but I haven't done anything wrong. I am grateful for this country where everyone can freely share their faith. I hope that I can continue to do this if I appeal against the unjust fine," said Dzhalil Masali.

Regarding the case, the legal officer of ADF International writes on X:

“In a free society, the government should not silence the peaceful expression of faith. Jalil Masali's actions are protected by the basic human right to freedom of religion, which includes the right to share one's deeply held beliefs with others. The state must refrain from unjustly interfering with this freedom”
