According to the head of the International Athletics Federation, last year's World Championships in Hungary are a benchmark for everyone who wants to organize prestigious international competitions.
According to Sebastian Coe, the president of the International Athletics Association (WA), the organization of last year's World Outdoor Championships in Budapest is the basis for hosting all world competitions in the future.
Coe told M4 Sport that he was very satisfied with the WC in Glasgow that ended on Sunday. He emphasized that this was one of the best indoor world championships, just as the 2023 Budapest outdoor championships were also of a very high standard.
"I told all the organizing committees, which are preparing for something, that Budapest should not be seen as a one-time event. That's the basis, from here on, the standard that we want from every single competition," emphasized Coe.
"There should be no empty seats, there should be a passionate, loud audience and cities that are very well structured in terms of advertising, and they also want us there. Budapest has set the bar very high," said the president of the international association.
At the Indoor WC, the ten-member Hungarian team finished with two finals: Attila Molnár was fifth in the 400 meters, while Luca Kozák was eighth in the 60 m hurdles.
