The Metropolitan Court ordered the forced medical treatment of the police killer who stabbed to death a policeman who was acting against him last January and injured two others.

On Friday, the Metropolitan Court acquitted the man who stabbed to death a police officer who was acting against him and wounded two others, and ordered him to undergo compulsory medical treatment.

The court found, in accordance with the indictment, that Sz. Szilárd was suffering from a pathological mental state at the time of the crime and is still suffering from it. In the justification of the verdict, it was stated, among other things, that in the case of the accused, there is a risk of recidivism, and therefore compulsory medical treatment is justified.

The court orders compulsory medical treatment for an indefinite period.

The procedure is supervised by the specialists of the Judicial Monitoring and Psychiatric Institute, who write a report on the man every six months, but the review does not automatically mean his release, the judge pointed out.

Judit Szabó emphasized: the defendant's defense that he stabbed himself in self-defense cannot be accepted; the location, number, and nature of the deceased policeman's injuries all indicate that Sz. Szilárd's intention was murder. This was supported by the testimony of the police officers who participated in the scuffle that led to the tragedy, the judge explained.

The forensic experts speaking in the criminal case found that the man shows paranoid symptoms, has a personality disorder to a great extent, and is constantly suspicious, which also raises the risk of repeating the crime.

Sz. Szilárd also wounded the other two police officers who participated in the action, which also confirms that his intention was murder, the court heard.

On January 12 last year, the man joined the XI. in an apartment building on Lecke utca in the district, he broke down the door of one of his neighbors because he thought she was in danger. Sz. Szilárd later called the police himself, and when they arrived, he behaved confused. The patrolmen noticed that the man had a knife, so they wanted to handcuff him, but he resisted, and a fight broke out; the accused then stabbed the 29-year-old sergeant major Péter Baumann, who later died in the hospital.

After the stabbing, Sz. Szilárd tried to flee the scene,

then one of the police officers chasing him shot him in the leg at a tram stop on Fehérvár út, after firing a warning shot. The court also agreed with the results of the police investigation and found that the actions of the patrol officers were professional.

The decision is legally binding, the prosecutor Sz. Szilárd and the defense took note of it.
