With Dominik Szoboszlai's goal, Liverpool won 5-1 as a guest of Sparta Praha in the round of 16 of the Europa League, in the first leg of the match on Thursday. Sparta were an equal opponent, especially in the first half, but the Czechs missed a number of big chances.
Szoboszlai did not find a place in the England starting team last weekend after his injury, but the team of the Hungarian national team captain decided the match without him in one half, as they were able to enter the dressing room with a 3-0 advantage.
The English Reds surpassed their rivals mainly in the exploitation of situations, the Czechs were not only Liverpool's equal partners in the field, but also created many situations,
however, some were omitted.
The islanders had a bad start to the second half, as Conor Bradley, who was substituted in during the break, made Sparta better with an own goal, and in fact, they had another chance to catch up. In the 51st minute, Szoboszlai replaced the Uruguayan forward, Darwin Núñez, who doubled his lead, and soon after, Jürgen Klopp's team restored the three-goal difference with Luis Diaz's bouncing shot.
In the first half, Mohamed Szalah, who also came on as a substitute, scored from Szoboszlai's pass, but the goal was disallowed due to offside. In extra time, the 23-year-old Hungarian player himself set the final result: he stormed to the left side, pulled to the center, then shot from 16 meters to the right side of the goal, the goalkeeper could only reach the flat shot with his foot.
The rematch will be held in a week.
