The recently published country report speaks highly of the renewed Hungarian vocational training system, highlighting the practical orientation and the rapid employment rate following training, the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM) announced on Saturday.

The Ministry's announcement explains that the 2024 report of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on Hungary's economy has been published. The country study acknowledges that progress has been made in relation to the previous recommendation on vocational training. The essence of the 2021 recommendation was that Hungary should link the funding of vocational training institutions directly to dual training, and only start any vocational training if the student has a vocational training employment contract at a work-based learning, i.e. dual training place. This year's OECD report highlighted: in dual vocational training, companies operate as schools and receive funding for students with vocational training contracts, they wrote.

The material creditably shows that an extremely high proportion of students in vocational training - and this is significantly higher than the OECD average of 45 percent - participates in dual, work-based learning.

He also points out that the employment rate of those who graduated from upper secondary vocational education is exceptionally high, higher than that of those who graduated from general upper secondary, i.e. gymnasiums. The national study formulates as a recommendation that the vocational training programs ensure progression to higher education from a wider range than at present. The government's measures are fully in line with this, the introduced certified technician training and the preliminary student legal relationship all serve this, explains the KIM.

The goal of the OECD is to support the successful policies of the member states by collecting best practices, preparing and publishing regular forecasts, statistics, and analyses. The organization regularly prepares an economic country study of each of its member states, which aims to provide a comprehensive, objective picture of economic and structural processes, and at the same time formulates non-binding recommendations regarding economic policies

says the announcement.
