While an economic minister should focus on growth, the president of the central bank should focus on inflation.
"The most important thing is that we managed to keep the jobs, very few of the companies went bankrupt, they are functioning and sustaining themselves, and in general society is in a functional state, moreover in a safe environment," László Parragh evaluated the past period of the Hungarian economy.
the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry spoke on the ATV program about how we managed to reduce inflation, but the work is not over yet, our next task is to protect or prevent this trend from reversing, even if inflation only rises in the short term.
The big problem is that it's basically not up to us, but the world market, raw material prices, energy prices, the security policy situation, the Middle East, Ukraine, these have no influence."
said the president of MKIK.
László Parragh, when asked what his opinion was about the contradictions between the Governor of the Central Bank György Matolcsy and the Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy, said, "Obviously, an economic minister should have growth at the center. The president of the central bank must have inflation in the crosshairs of his thinking.
"The other question is that it could have been five years ago, since we said even then that the inflation risk in the Hungarian economy was very high, and unfortunately this happened. If we had gone ahead of this at the time, with monetary instruments, i.e. central bank instruments, the past few years would have turned out differently.
This discussion is unfortunate, at the moment I think that the forint is the subject of speculation"
Parragh pointed out.
The president of MKIK drew attention to a philosophical problem with regard to guest workers, which is the blurring or mixing of labor replacement and migration.
In Western Europe, they see migration as the solution. Austria, on the other hand, employs guest workers, which is a significant added value to the Austrian economy. According to Parragh, we should follow Austria's example.
At the same time, the arrival of guest workers is greatly influenced by the wage issue"
the president pointed out.
He added: "Hungary will not be in an easy position in this competition, even though we say that we are raising wages, the Austrians are also raising the wages of waiters or cooks in parallel with us."
