The fuel supply in Hungary is still guaranteed, the Ministry of Technology and Industry (TIM) announced on Saturday.

Contrary to the news published in the press, Hungary's fuel supply was ensured despite the longer-than-planned shutdown of the oil refinery in Schwechat, the ministry's announcement highlighted, adding: there is no supply problem in Hungary, domestic fuel production and stocks are sufficient to meet the needs of the population, they emphasized.

The ministry also announced that the government's priority goal is to continuously ensure affordable fuel for the population.

Thanks to the gasoline price cap introduced last November, Hungarians pay the lowest price for fuel in all of Europe, they noted.

The ministry's announcement emphasizes that supply is continuously ensured at Hungarian gas stations, domestic fuel production and stocks cover the needs of the public. Hungary also has significant strategic reserves that can be used in the event of an emergency.

The newspaper Világgazdaság wrote on Friday, citing industry sources, that the Austrian OMV refinery in Schwechat cannot be restarted in time after the regular maintenance associated with the shutdown of the plant.
