The new president of the republic was inaugurated, and at the beginning of his speech he said that he had received the honor unexpectedly.

Tamás Sulyok was elected by the Parliament during the spring session that began on February 26, after Katalin Novák resigned. As the first step of the new president of the republic, on the day he took office, March 5, he signed the parliamentary decision on Sweden's accession to NATO.

At the beginning of his speech, Tamás Sulyok said that he was unexpectedly given the honor of serving Hungary as the President of the Republic. He emphasized that, as a lawyer, he will continue to use the same approaches in his work with which he has operated so far, he emphasized that he will serve the country in accordance with the Basic Law and the laws and to the best of his knowledge. He will follow the good examples, but he will try to add his own paving stones. Tamás Sulyok underlined that law is the compass of his whole life.

he said. He added: Hungary is a country with a thousand-year statehood and operating on the basis of popular sovereignty. Nowadays, the rule of law is often used in a political sense, but I use the concept of the rule of law in the sense that the entire operation of the state is subject to the law. All power can only be interpreted within the framework of law.

The inauguration of the President of the Republic Tamás Sulyok has begun

I consider it the greatest honor to serve the country and the nation. As president, I always want to be the defender of the dignity of the Hungarian people - declared Tamás Sulyok, and he praised his predecessors, who paved the way for him to move forward.

In his speech, he also touched on the most important values ​​of our national culture, according to which it is our duty to conform, such as family and children. He emphasized that he considers the values ​​contained in the National Creed of the Basic Law to be the guiding principles in his work. According to Sulyok, one of the greatest and most important achievements of the past decades is that the President of the Republic of Hungary is not only responsible for Hungarians from here and beyond the border, not only in a spiritual sense, but also in a public law sense. He stated that during his work he will pay special attention to our Hungarian compatriots across the border.

He said that he and his wife will always stand by those who need them the most, adding that they will always be there for the fallen. He emphasized that

our country is clearly part of the West, according to him, Hungarians are European not only geographically, but also spiritually,

"but the Hungarian does not melt into it, but merges with it".
