Árpád János Potápi recalled on the occasion of the Székely Freedom Day: on March 10, Hungarians remember the martyrs of Székely who were executed on March 10, 1854 at the Postarét in Marosvásárhely.

"This day is a tribute to our Székely compatriots fighting for national self-determination"

- He told.

He stressed that the demand for self-determination of the Székely people is "not an unprecedented desire", and there are several working examples of this in the European Union, including those of the Austrians in South Tyrol and the Swedish-speaking residents of the Aland Islands in Finland.

The Székely-Hungarian community, which lives in the majority in its homeland, must be guaranteed the right to solve its own problems of public interest, so self-determination is the guarantee of remaining in the homeland," he declared. He emphasized: if a national community can freely live its identity, preserve and practice its culture and traditions, and operate its own institutional system, it is not only good for the given community, but also for the successor state.

The state secretary explained that territorial autonomy means protection, self-organization, and ensures local legislation, which is good for everyone and is not directed against anyone.

In his announcement, János Árpád Potápi urged as many people as possible to participate in the Sunday events organized by the Székely National Council, stressing that the cause of Székely freedom is a common cause for all Hungarians.
