The proposal of Egyenlő.hu and CÖF-CÖKA provides a social benefit that does not require the fulfillment of new technical conditions, and does not cause additional costs for companies.
The Civil Solidarity Forum (CÖF) - a modern trade union Egyenlő.hu cooperating with the Civil Solidarity Non-profit Foundation (CÖKA) - proposes a change in the law to help commercial workers and their families - it was announced at the CÖF-CÖKA press conference held in Budapest on Tuesday.
Csaba Bubenko, the president of the trade union, said:
by supplementing the law on personal income tax, they would provide traders with the opportunity to give their employees a discount on the price of the products they sell. With the stipulation that the amount to be paid for the product through the discount cannot be less than the purchase price of the product plus VAT. The affected commercial companies could give employees a discounted purchase of up to HUF 35,000 per month, he continued.
This amount could be increased annually by the rate of annual inflation determined by the Central Statistical Office, he added.
He believed that the proposal of Egyenlő.hu and CÖF-CÖKA is community-shaping, because it provides a social benefit that does not require the fulfillment of new technical conditions, and does not cause additional costs for companies.
At the same time, it indicates the sensitivity of the caring state, not only towards the employee, but also towards their families, and the employer uses a new solution that encourages its employees to stay in place, he explained.
The Egyenlő.hu trade union and CÖF-CÖKA sent the proposal to the Ministry of Finance, said Csaba Bubenko.
CÖF-CÖKA spokesperson Zoltán Lomnici Jr. drew attention to the fact that CÖF-CÖKA maintains close relations with foreign and Hungarian trade unions, the Italian UGL, the Workers' Councils and Egyenlő.hu. Among other things, the result of this collaboration was that several commercial chains were closed on December 24 at their request.
CÖF-CÖKA intends to continue working for Hungarian families in cooperation with trade unions in the future, said Mr. Zoltán Lomnici.
