I believe that Budapest deserves more, said the previous government spokesman.
Fidesz's Budapest caucus made its decision with a unanimous decision that Alexandra Szentkirályi will be the candidate for mayor of Fidesz-KDNP, Fidesz in Budapest announced on its social media page.
According to Zsolt Láng, the president of Fidesz in Budapest, in the past four and a half years, "Kárácsony and Gyurcsány's people have bankrupted the capital, so there needs to be a change in Budapest!"
Under the leadership of Alexandra Szentkirályi, the city can get a new impetus and start developing again - the post reads.
It was an honor to be the spokesperson of the Hungarian government for more than four years, to work so that the Hungarian people can live in peace and security even in the most difficult times, Szentkirályi wrote in his Facebook post on Thursday evening, commenting on the decision regarding his nomination.
Szentkirályi reminded us: in recent years, we overcame the coronavirus epidemic and the economic difficulties that followed, "but together we also showed what it's like to speak the voice of peace in the shadow of a war and help those in need".
This beautiful and very busy period for me is now coming to an end, I will no longer continue my work as a government spokesperson - announced Alexandra Szentkirályi, who called the candidacy for mayor an "honor and a task".
"Thank you for the trust, I will try to use all my knowledge and experience for the benefit of the city, because I believe that Budapest deserves more!" Alexandra Szentkirályi concluded her post.
