Macron was not alone in his crazy ideas: the leaders of the army did not dare to contradict him.
The French armed forces are ready for the most difficult conflicts, the chief of staff of the French ground forces told Le Monde. According to him, they can deploy 20,000 soldiers and command a force of 60,000 in less than 30 days.
The French general added that the country's defense capability rests on its nuclear arsenal and troops "compatible with the armies of the Allies".
The commander spoke about this shortly after French President Emmanuel Macron said that he does not rule out the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine.
On Tuesday, the head of the Russian intelligence service stated that they have information that a military contingent of 2,000 people is already being prepared in France for deployment in Ukraine.
"The French army is ready. No matter how the international situation develops, the French can trust that their soldiers will be ready to respond," said Pierre Schill, Chief of Staff of the French Army.
It is no secret that French soldiers are constantly being trained. According to experts, the fact that the director of the Russian external intelligence service recently spoke about the possibility of two thousand French soldiers going to Ukraine may be cause for concern. Sergey Naryskin added: so many people cannot be sent to Ukraine unnoticed, and the French formation will be a priority, legitimate target of the Russian army.
The case erupted at the end of February, when French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris did not rule out sending Western troops to Ukraine.
He said: his country will do everything to prevent Russia from winning the war. His statement stirred up a lot of dust, despite this, Emmanuel Macron later confirmed that he was correct and, in fact, practically called those who do not agree with the deployment of soldiers cowards.
“Now then, is this our war or not? Maybe we should turn away and let the events play out on their own? I don't think so," said Emmanuel Macron.
Several people reacted to his words. Recently, the Russian president also answered the question of whether a conflict between Russia and NATO is possible. He said: everything is possible in today's world.
"I have already said, and it is clear to everyone, that in this case the world would be one step away from full-scale World War III," Putin asserted.
Nevertheless, Emmanuel Macron once again stated to a Ukrainian television channel: Russia cannot win.
“I have to say that we need European progress and that progress means we need to do more. We are facing an opponent who does not say where he will stop. Why would we tell you every morning where we're going to stop?" - said the French president.
"If the soldiers of a NATO member state are involved in an armed conflict, it does not mean that the other countries should rush to their aid," said Jr. Zoltán Lomnici is a constitutional lawyer at Kossuth Rádio. The consultant of the Szazadvég Foundation added: however, it would mean a different situation if France attacked the Russian troops.
He added: "If France openly attacks Russian troops in this way, even in the territory of Ukraine, and Russia reacts to this, say with long-range missiles against France, this will clearly result in Article 5 coming into force."
"A significant number of today's European leaders do not consider their own country important", László Földi already spoke about this on M1. The intelligence expert added: it is also possible that they have the interests of the United States of America in mind.
“You may be instructed to try to put on a kind of battle dress in Europe for the sake of the United States, but there are serious problems in France. Both at the level of society - thanks to its migration policy - and also in the area of the economy, thanks to the problems caused by the Russian embargo and the increased energy prices. We know very well that trade has turned upside down in this sense," the expert pointed out.
László Földi added: The purpose of Emmanuel Macron's statement may also be to sweep the problems in France under the table.
But he alone cannot decide on the issue of war and peace.
Moreover, more and more of the French see that peace is needed instead of war.
