We do not represent ideas, but European people, the Prime Minister pointed out in Brussels.

I have never seen such a good opportunity for national conservative, sovereignist and Christian-based forces to become dominant in the European Union, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said at the presentation of the János Hunyadi Award of the Civil Hungary Foundation (PMA) in Brussels on Wednesday.

In his speech at the event of the Fidesz party foundation, Viktor Orbán emphasized that the nations will win in the debate with the liberals, not the empire of George Soros and not the bureaucrats in Brussels. The ideal of an open society did not take root in Central Europe.

We will send them to where they belong, to the dustbin of history, just as we confused the communists, the Prime Minister declared.

In connection with the fact that the János Hunyadi Award, donated for the first time by the Foundation for Civil Hungary, was awarded to Professor Ryszard Antoni Legutko, a Polish member of the European Parliament (EP), Viktor Orbán drew attention to the fact that the recipient of the award discovered the political autocracy when examining the operation of the European Union critical signs of striving. He identified that progressive liberals are hostile to anyone who thinks differently. He pointed out that they have become like communists and are a real threat to freedom "because they are trying to realize their own utopian fever dreams".

"Progressive liberals in the European Union are not interested in European people. They are only interested in their own ideas. If the price of realizing the ideals is to demolish European industry and agriculture, they will do it. And if they erase Europe's cultural past with illegal migration, they will do that too," the Prime Minister pointed out.

We do not represent ideas, but European people, he said.

According to his words, in 2004, when we joined the EU, "we felt that we had arrived and returned home. We thought that the union would be the depository of growth and the guarantee of our national independence". At the same time, he announced, as Ryszard Antoni Legutko had already recognized: the representatives of liberalism strive to eliminate sovereignty, to take away national powers as completely as possible, and to control the community with political dictates.

"Those we argue with actually want to count us out. However, in the debate with the liberals, it will not be George Soros's empire, nor the Brussels bureaucrats, but the nations that will win," emphasized the Hungarian Prime Minister.

Viktor Orbán said that after the withdrawal of the nation-state-minded British from the EU, the representation of sovereignty was left to the Central Europeans.

He then added: Poles and Hungarians have always agreed on the issue of sovereignty.

For the first time in many decades, I feel that the sovereignist Central Europeans are not alone, said Viktor Orbán, and then added: there is turmoil and movement among German farmers, just as in France and Portugal, and in a few months the international conservative sovereignist forces have become dominant in the Netherlands as well. .

"Europe gives a sign of life, defends itself and makes its voice heard. I haven't seen such a good opportunity for national conservative, sovereignist and Christian-based forces to become dominant in the European Union in a long time," he emphasized.

According to his words, after Ryszard Antoni Legutko recognized the patterns of communism in progressive liberalism, he did not keep it to himself, but spoke about it openly.

"In other words, we salute not only a great skull and an active person, but also a brave person, because it took a lot of courage for someone to talk about the autocratic tendency inherent in liberalism in the '90s. We would like to thank you for contributing to the freedom of Hungarians with your work," Viktor Orbán added.

In his speech, Ryszard Antoni Legutko stated, among other things: European values and freedom are under threat and require protection.

He emphasized that democracy and freedom are declining in the European Union. The anti-Christian reflex has become an essential component of EU consciousness. The European project means that political power is transferred from the member states to the EU institutions. The integrationists deny the European cultural heritage, and those who speak against it are silenced or harassed, he said. The left has monopolized the European Union and turned it into a large political corporation, he declared.

For the countries of our region, this is the road to slavery, Ryszard Antoni Legutko added in his speech.

Ádám Kavecsánszki, the President and CEO of the Foundation for Civil Hungary, said that the prize was awarded for the promotion of European cooperation that respects the independence of nation-states, for exposing the totalitarian features of liberal democracies in a philosophical manner, as well as for his decades of public and academic work, and in the European Parliament for Christian values, awarded to the Polish EP representative for his steadfast representation of the idea of freedom and independence.

The János Hunyadi Award, founded by the Foundation for Civil Hungary in 2023, was presented for the first time in Brussels.

The international award was created to recognize the outstanding achievements, the focus of which is the protection of the freedom and independence of the European nations, as well as the conscious acceptance of the universal Christian culture that connects the peoples of the continent.
