The doctor does not want to continue treating the politician because he does not want to support any anti-democratic tendencies.
In the state of Baden-Württemberg, a doctor refused to treat one of his patients because he was a local politician from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
The doctor's decision was allegedly prompted by seeing a photo in the local newspaper of the politician Heiko Nüßner attending one of his party's events. The doctor then told him that
find a new practice because of their clearly different political views.
Nüßner, a former Christian Democrat (CDU) politician for 26 years, told the Bild newspaper that he was "very surprised" by the reaction, as he had never discussed politics with the doctor. The AfD politician said: "I was disappointed in the CDU because of the party's policies. For me, the AfD is the new CDU, and it is by no means far-right”.
Nüßner had an accident three years ago that left him in a wheelchair. When he asked the doctor for a prescription in early March, the doctor refused to issue it.
In an interview with Bild, the doctor said,
that's why he doesn't want to continue treating the politician, as he doesn't want to support any anti-democratic tendencies.
