A documentary film series is being made about the life of former professional boxer István Kovács - nicknamed Kokó - which will be produced by the creators of the Jimmy Zámbó film, "The King". The filmmakers are not only working with archival footage, but also shooting new, never-before-seen material with the boxer.
István Kovács - nicknamed Kokó - will be the focus of a new documentary film series, which will be produced by the creative team of "The King".
The former professional Olympic, world and European champion (who was last seen as the professional manager of Sztárbox) has been followed by cameras for decades, so there is plenty of material from which the producers can choose. The boxer himself said that he had been approached with something similar before, so the production of the series is not surprising to him, RTL .
When we sat down and started working on it, we started talking about it, that's when I realized that so much has really happened to me and it's a great honor to be asked. I also feel that the life path that I have run, those 54 years, carries so many messages, so many experiences, memories, and stories that perhaps it can be attempted in the form of a film
- declared István "Kokó" Kovács.
In the meantime, the director of the series, Dániel Kovács, revealed that since the athlete is being presented in the form of a documentary, the approach will be completely different than in the case of "The King", since the series dealing with Jimmy's life - although based on reality - is a work of fiction. The documentary will contain not only archival footage, but also freshly filmed material, he added.
