Competitive eating is very popular in several countries, especially in the United States and is now appearing in Hungary as well. The winner of the National Championship of the Hungarian Eating Competitions makes it to the American finals, where the winner receives about HUF 15 million.

The first Hungarian Eating Contest Championship League 2024 will start in May. The new series of special events will consist of a championship consisting of ten qualifiers and ten winners will be announced, who will fight for the title of Hungarian National Champion within the framework of a grand final and thus a chance they can get to qualify for the American World Cup.

The Hungarian championship contains quite a few challenges: at the first stop of the spring round, you have to eat a three-kilogram Pad Thai noodle as soon as possible, but within 40 minutes. The winner is either the one who eats the 3 kilograms of pasta the fastest, or the one who removes the most from the plate in 40 minutes.

The first round will take place on May 11. Eating as a sport is already accepted in many countries around the world and has been practiced for years. Challenges are very popular in Hungary, but this is the first time that such an official series of competitions has started, and this has already aroused the interest of foreign competitors.

The main prize of the American championship is 40 thousand dollars, i.e. almost 15 million forints.

The English champion Jones Dawis is looking forward to competing against the Hungarian winner, but James Webb, who is ranked 5th in the world and the world champion in eating chicken wings (he ate 224 pieces within 10 minutes), has already given good advice and ideas to the competitors. He also offered that if he receives an invitation, he would be very happy to attend the grand final, the Burger-Blues-Beer festival held in Budapest on August 25.

A recent research has shown that the number of people considered obese in the world has increased to over one billion.

Obesity is therefore as big a problem as malnutrition.

The survey also revealed that obesity is not only present in rich countries, but also in poorer places. The main cause of obesity is poor quality food.
