According to a study, wearing jeans on a daily basis has a serious environmental impact.
Researchers from China's Canton University have published unusual research, in which they came to the conclusion that even wearing jeans is dangerous for the Earth's climate - this is what the Daily Mail writes about.
According to the researchers, wearing a pair of jeans for even a whole day has an environmental impact equivalent to 2.5 kilograms of carbon dioxide, equivalent to the emissions of a 6.4 mile (approximately 102 kilometer) car journey.
During the investigation of the product life cycle of the average pair of jeans, the researchers came to the sensational discovery, from the production of the cotton required for production to the sale.
"The humblest basic piece of our wardrobe, jeans, also has a significant impact on the environment (...), however, more favorable results can be achieved through the sale of second-hand clothes," said the lead researcher responsible for the study, who added, among other things:
China is an example of the transformation of consumer and fashion trends.
Furthermore, the washing, drying and ironing of jeans can also have a polluting effect, according to the study.
