We have the newest rising star of Hungarian swimming: Jackl Vivien, surprising many, not only won the final of the 400-meter medley, but also beat the previous world record holder, Katinka Hosszú, by twelve seconds. The 15-year-old Jackl thus escaped the Olympic level time, and even achieved the second best time in the world this year.

Only 15-year-old Jackl Vivien surprisingly won the 400-meter individual medley in the final of the national swimming championship taking place in the Duna Arena on Thursday. Boglárka Kapás and Katinka Hosszú already see him as a rival. After the race, the teenage swimmer was moved to tears and evaluated M4 Sport.

The young competitor from Tatabánya improved his personal best (4:40.66 minutes) by six seconds and crossed the finish line with a time of 4:34.96 minutes, thus easily fulfilling the Paris criteria (4:38.53 p).

In this number, Jackl is the first Hungarian swimmer to secure a place at the Paris Olympics, Kapás Boglárka, who finished second, was not far behind (4:38.92), three-time Olympic champion Katinka Hosszú was fifth in the final (4:47.62).

Jackl said after the race,

he jumped into the pool with the aim of giving his all and escaping the Olympic level, but he did not think at all that he would do it with such confidence.

He added that Kapás and Hosszú also congratulated him after the competition, who already see him as a rival. Jack remarked,

for now, he is not thinking about the Olympics, he is still in his teens, whose main competition would have been the European Youth Championship this year.

As a junior competitor, Jackl has been considered a great hope for a long time, at the 2021 youth national championship, for example, Krisztina Egerszegi improved her age group record in the 400 medley set in 1987, i.e. 34 years earlier, by . And now he has also made a lasting impression on the adult ob.
