Félixfürdő in Bihar county is the most sought-after location in Transylvania for the May Day long weekend, ahead of Mamaia and Călimenești, said the vice-president of the national association of Romanian tourist agencies.
According to Adrian Voican, although the price of the Eastern Churches' May Day vacation, which includes the Easter holiday, is about 20 percent more expensive this year than last year, the offer is sufficiently varied for everyone to find an offer that fits their budget, Agerpres reported. Vama Veche is considered the "traditional opening of the season" on the first of May, so it is not surprising that it is 100 percent full, but Voican warned that there is already less accommodation there.
At the same time, Corina Martin, Secretary General of the Association of Romanian Hospitality Industry Patronages (FRIOR), reported that on the whole, fewer tourists are expected on the Romanian coast during the long weekend than last year.
He attributes this partly to the fact that the Beach Please festival in Cositnești will not be held this year. This time, the Sunwaves festival will be held in Mamaia between May 1 and 7, and the organizers Ioan Borzea said that there will be at least two thousand fewer participants than last year.
"We don't know what caused the decrease. In general, there were more people every year, now for the first time there are fewer tourists"
Agerpres quoted Borzea.
