The posthumous Staff Sergeant Tamás Balázs Mátyás died in the line of duty as a result of a road traffic accident.

The IV. The patrolman of the district Police Department was only 21 years old when he died in a traffic accident on the night of February 15, 2018 at the intersection of Fóti út and Leiningen Károly utca while trying to raise an alarm. The young policeman was innocent. After his death, Balázs Tamás Mátyás r. sergeant was posthumously promoted to police sergeant by the Minister of the Interior of Hungary and declared "Dead in the Service".

The parents of Tamás Balázs Mátyás submitted a motion to the municipality for the dignified preservation of their son's memory, which was first approved by IV. they voted at the district representative body meeting and then at the Capital Assembly meeting.

Based on the unanimous decision, the public area in Újpest, next to the intersection of Iglói út and Fóti út, will now be named Mátyás Balázs Tamás tér.

The commemoration connected with the ceremonial handing over of the square was held on Police Day, April 24, where the father of the policeman who died young gave a speech, as well as Dr. Tamás Terdik r. Major General, Chief of Police of Budapest and Dr. Norbert Trippon, Deputy Mayor of Újpest.
