The Hungarian government has given the green light to one of the biggest sports events in the world, supporting the staging of the Champions League final in Budapest.

Based on Thursday's announcement by the Ministry of National Defense, in accordance with the government's decision, it supports the Hungarian Football Association's bid for the 2026 or 2027 Champions League final and provides the necessary guarantees.

"The condition for a valid bid for the Champions League final is that the representative of the government - in this case the Minister of National Defense - gives authorization to sign the declarations required and formulated by UEFA. The declarations include the necessary guarantees," the statement said.

They remind us that since the Puskás Aréna was handed over in 2019, it has already hosted Europa League finals, European Super Cup matches and European Championship matches, the organization of which was a success among both the continental association and the fans. A decision on the winning application is expected in May, they added.
